Things to Know Before You Go

Here are some tips on what to do in Myrtle Beach - if you have more time than the bride & groom will have :) I always encourage people to eat local! Of course, if you want to play it safe there are plenty of good chain restaurants as well. But here are some local places I have been to and can recommend. I also listed some activites - if you're staying longer than a night or two -Myrtle Beach does have a lot to offer. Just be sure to check beforehand to see what's available, as some places do operate seasonally. April is on the cusp of the "season" at the beach.

GOLF

There are SO many courses here - it would probably be in your best interest to look on your own. If you're a "real golfer" I'd hate to lead you astray! Or ask Jerry - as he has played many a course in Myrtle Beach.

NIGHTLIFE

Broadway at the Beach - I doubt Jerry & I will have time for all this - but it's Myrtle Beach's collection of restaurants, shops, bars & clubs all in one place. It's not far from the rest of the festivities - who knows, maybe I will make an appearance in my wedding dress late night? (ok, probably not) It's about 8 miles from the hotels, 10 min taxi. (1325 Celebrity Circle)

Finn McCool's Irish Pub is just a mile from Marina Inn. Never been - but how can you go wrong with an Irish Pub?? Just a mile away. (501 Lake Arrowhead Rd)

Ocean Annie's Beach Bar is an old favorite, and if the weather is nice can be lots of fun! It's just a mile & a half. (9550 Shore Drive)

Tourist Attractions

This could be a LONG list. I will stick to the obvious...

At or near Broadway at the Beach you will find: Hard Rock Cafe, Pavillion Nostalgia Park, Ripley's Aquarium, Nascar Speedpark, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville

other favorites -

Freestyle Music Park (theme park/ roller coasters)211 George Bishop ParkwayMyrtle Beach, SC 29579(843) 236-7625

Myrtle Waves Water Park1820 21st Avenue North Myrtle Beach, SC 29577(843) 918-8725

The best site I have found is http://www.visitmyrtlebeach.com/ It has tons of things to do, places to eat, activities & night life.

Air Travel Information

For those of you flying in - some things to think about/ good information for ya! I have people in the wedding party coming from all of the following places. Most conveniently - fly into the Myrtle Beach airport -the code is MYR - it's less than 10 miles from suggested hotels.

Columbia is about 2.5 hours away - and the airport code is CAE

Charlston is under 2 hours - airport code CHS

Charlotte is 3+ hours - and is CLT

Greenville is 4+ but I know a lot of people will be coming that way - GSP is the airport code there.
